Individual Subscriptions
A Sky Calendar subscription is $12 per year and they are mailed quarterly.
- Mailed Mid-January - February, March and April issues
- Mailed mid-April - May, June, and July issues
- Mailed mid-July - August, September, and October issues
- Mailed mid-October - November, December and January issues
A subscription may start anytime and consists of twelve issues. If you order mid-quarter, your first year may include an extra month or two to make sure your get a full year's worth. Gift subscriptions are welcome and recipients are sent a note indicating who it is from and when it expires along with the first gift issues.
You can also consider membership with the Abrams Planetarium that comes with a subscription to the Sky Calendar along with other benefits.
Bulk Order
You can order copies in bulk for individual months. This is great for star parties or large events, classes, or astronomy clubs. Bulk issues are 22 cents per copy and there is a 25 copy minimum for each month ordered.
Reprint Policy
Subscription and bulk order fees ensure we can cover the cost of producing the Sky Calendar and has allowed us to continue its production for nearly 60 years. By setting these policies, we are attempting to insure that no individual can obtain the equivalent of a subscription to the Sky Calendar (12 issues) through methods that do not provide income to Abrams Planetarium.
However, we also wish for this tool to be as widely available as possible. As such, we do allow full reprint or excerpts be used under certain circumstances.
We ask for your cooperation in following these reprint guidelines. The long term quality of the Sky Calendar depends both on your interest, as a Skywatcher, and the Sky Calendar's ability to produce income. We appreciate your support. Reprint of Full Issues
Any non-profit, educational institution or group has permission to duplicate up to four issues per calendar year for educational use provided they:
- Has a subscription to Sky Calendar directly from Abrams Planetarium (or membership in the Friends of Abrams Planetarium) and uses only copies distributed by Abrams Planetarium as originals for reprinting.
- Does not change or remove any information on the calendar or map.
- Does not charge recipients, other than for reproduction costs.
- Adds the credit line "Reprinted by permission of Abrams Planetarium."
- Emails the Abrams Planetarium stating which four months it intends to reproduce and indicating approximately how many copies of each issue will be printed.
- Any additional mention of subscription availability will be appreciated.
Excerpts
Publications can request permission to use Individual boxes or blocks of the Sky Calendar by emailing the Abrams Planetarium. If permission is granted, please clearly indicate Abrams Planetarium as the source and state the subscription information.
By setting these policies, we are attempting to insure that no individual can obtain the equivalent of a subscription to the Sky Calendar (12 issues) through methods that do not provide income to Abrams Planetarium. No individual should receive more than four reprinted copies per year. If you desire your membership to receive monthly copies, then see items (1) and (2) above.
